How property listing order works
Last updated: 25 October 2026
Your position on Bookfilo depends on the listings eligible to appear, the context of the search and your property’s ranking score. This page explains those factors so you can make informed decisions about your listing and subscription.
A higher score generally means an earlier position among comparable results. Paid plans contribute to that score. No plan or score guarantees a particular position, visibility level or number of bookings.
1. First, a property must be eligible to appear
Public discovery requires an active owner account, a property marked available and activated by our team, a qualifying subscription and at least one photo that has not been marked for deletion. A trial or granted subscription can qualify; a cancelled subscription can continue to qualify until its paid-through period ends.
Ranking does not override these requirements. A high score cannot make an ineligible property appear. Search criteria, such as destination, dates, guest capacity, property type and facilities, also affect which results are considered.
2. There is no single position across the whole site
The default order places higher-scoring properties first within the applicable group of results. When scores are equal, the property with the higher internal listing ID appears first; this is a consistent tie-breaker, not an extra quality assessment.
When no destination is selected, listings in the visitor’s country market can appear before listings in other countries. Nearby-property suggestions prioritise distance where location coordinates are available. Homepage collections can also have their own selection rules. These differences mean the same property can occupy different positions on different pages.
3. What contributes to the ranking score
The active score is the sum of package points, photo-resolution points, recorded property views, favourites, shares, phone-number reveals.
Package points: Entry Level adds 1,000, Premium 5,000 and Ultra 10,000. Without a qualifying subscription, the package component is zero. This is a substantial fixed advantage for higher plans, but interaction points accumulate without a fixed cap, so a higher plan does not always outrank a lower one.
Photos: the score averages the resolution points of photos with recorded dimensions—20 for at least 8,294,400 pixels, 10 for at least 2,073,600 pixels, and 5 below that. The average is rounded. If photos exist but none has dimensions recorded, this component is 5; without photos, it is zero. Adding more photos alone does not automatically raise the average.
Interactions: each newly recorded property view, favourite, share or phone-number reveal adds one point. Recording limits repeated events from the same identified visitor, for the same property and event type, within a day. These are accumulated recorded events, not a verified count of distinct people or completed bookings.
The current formula does not add points for profile completeness, calendar updates, response speed, guest ratings or the number of bookings. A lower accommodation price does not itself earn ranking points.
4. How paid plans affect visibility
Your subscription level contributes directly to the ranking score. Ultra receives more package points than Premium, and Premium more than Entry Level. Paid plans therefore influence ordinary listing order, as well as any separate promotional benefits.
The homepage’s promoted selection gives priority to eligible Ultra properties and displays up to 12 properties. It considers the visitor’s country market and ranking score within that selection. If fewer than 12 eligible Ultra properties are available, other eligible properties can fill the remaining places.
A higher plan does not reserve a fixed position or guarantee inclusion in every selection. Other properties, search context and the remaining score components still matter. An offer, discount or amount paid is not a separate score component; the active plan level is what counts.
5. Why your position can change
Ranking is relative: your position can change when other properties gain points, become eligible or leave the results, even if you have not edited your listing. A different destination, filter or collection can also change the order.
Scores are refreshed through recorded events, background updates and a scheduled daily recalculation. Changes may take time to appear, and processing delays can occur. The explanation on this page reflects the active ranking method; an experimental method calculated for evaluation does not affect public order until activated.
6. What you can do as an owner
Keep your description, facilities, prices and availability accurate. Upload clear photos that genuinely represent your accommodation, and check that your property remains eligible for public display. These steps help guests make informed choices; they do not all necessarily add points under the active formula.
Read the score factors above before deciding whether a different plan meets your needs. Seek genuine guest interest rather than repeated clicks or artificial activity. No legitimate action can promise first place.
7. What the score does—and does not—tell you
The score is an ordering tool. It is not a star classification, an independent inspection, a guarantee of safety or service quality, or a prediction of bookings or income. Photo resolution measures technical detail, not whether a photo is truthful or attractive.
The calculation relies on the information and interactions recorded by Bookfilo. Missing data, recording limitations and delayed updates can affect it. Guests should review the property details and confirm important arrangements with the host.
8. Questions or a possible error?
If your listing appears to be missing or its position seems inconsistent with this explanation, contact us with the property link, the page or search you used, the selected dates and filters, and when you checked. This helps us distinguish an eligibility issue from a ranking or display issue.
You can use the contact link below or the support section in your owner account. We can review the underlying information; contacting support does not itself increase your score.
